SAMAIDEN RECEIVES FiT APPROVAL FROM SEDA FOR 7MW BIOMASS POWER PLANT IN JOHOR

PETALING JAYA, 29 JANUARY 2024 – Samaiden Group Berhad (“Samaiden”), a renewable energy (“RE”) specialist principally involved in engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (“EPCC”) of solar photovoltaic (“PV”) systems and power plants, is delighted to announce a significant milestone achieved by Samaiden’s indirect wholly-owned subsidiary, Samaiden Biomass Energy Sdn. Bhd. (“Samaiden Biomass Energy”). For information, Samaiden Biomass Energy has received the Feed-in Tariff (“FiT”) Approval Certificate from the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (“SEDA”) Malaysia, marking a pivotal step in the Group’s RE journey.

This approval, detailed in a letter dated 22 January 2024, authorises Samaiden Biomass Energy to construct and operate a Biomass Power Plant with an installed capacity of 7.0 Megawatts (“MW”). The plant is set to supply a Net Export Capacity of 6.0 MW to Tenaga Nasional Berhad. This agreement spans twenty-one (21) years and is scheduled to commence on 22 January 2027. The Biomass Power Plant, destined for Kampung Tanjong Batu 15 in Tangkak, Johor Darul Takzim, represents a strategic expansion of Samaiden’s portfolio in RE. This new development not only strengthens Samaiden’s commitment to sustainable energy production but also aligns with Malaysia’s broader goals for environmental sustainability and energy diversification.
